pacifi-kana is the Western branch of Haiku Canada. Our mission is to promote awareness and appreciation of haiku and related forms as well as create association, friendship and mutual support among haiku poets.

Meetings
(updated Aug 7th)

The July meeting on Gabriola Island was a great success; with our focus on haiku workshopping and a very special presentation by our California haijin, Naia, and our Point Roberts, Washington haijin, Carole MacRury.  We will not
be holding an autumn meeting as everyone is invited (and urged) to attend Haiku North America (September 21 - 25), held this year in Port Townsend,
Washington (
on the Olympic Peninsula).  For more information on Haiku North
America look in the news section or please contact Michael Dylan Welch at:
WelchM@aol.com

At present the pacifi-kana haiku group meets three times a year to read and discuss haiku. Each gathering centres around a ginko (haiku walk), and includes other haiku-related activities.  The summer meeting is held on Gabriola Island, and the spring and fall meetings are held in various places around B.C.  These gatherings are open to all pacifi-kana members and other interested poets.

Membership

Membership is open to all writers or students of haiku residing in British Columbia, the Yukon, the Northwest Territories, or Nunavut.  (The pacifi-kana haiku group may also include poets from Washington State.) New members are always welcome.

Those interested in joining pacifi-kana haiku group, or anyone wanting to learn more about haiku in general, may contact the acting pacifi-kana regional coordinator for Haiku Canada.

There are no fees for membership in the pacifi-kana haiku group. However, as a branch of Haiku Canada we promote and offer information on how to join Haiku Canada.

We encourage you to explore the rest of our site to enjoy the many fine haiku therein.
